A Statewide Iowa Records Reference

Finding an Iowa arrest record or booking photo starts with knowing which system created it. County sheriffs keep local booking records, Iowa Department of Corrections profiles concern state custody or supervision, and court dockets track case events. This privately run reference site explains how those records differ and brings Iowa's statewide source landscape into one place. It does not host booking photos or a gallery, and an arrest entry is an allegation rather than proof of guilt. Each record should be read in its own context and checked against the responsible public agency.

Why This Iowa Site Exists

Iowa has no single public booking roster for all counties. Each county sheriff or jail manages its own booking records and decides how a roster or feed is presented. A state patrol news release, a county booking entry, an Iowa DOC offender profile, and a court docket are separate records with different purposes and update times. Iowa Code Chapter 22 makes many government records open to the public, while named exceptions and other laws can limit access. This site gives readers a statewide view of those layers and explains why an arrest report does not establish guilt. It publishes no booking-photo gallery of its own.

What the Reference Covers

The site brings together statewide context and links to the main records paths:

What This Site Cannot Do

This is an independent reference project, not an Iowa government agency and not part of a sheriff's office, jail, or corrections department. It does not hold official records or speak for a custodian.

  • It cannot release, hold, or move a person in custody.
  • It cannot post bond, arrange a visit, or send funds for anyone.
  • It cannot give legal advice or decide what a court record means.
  • It cannot promise that a public record is complete or current.

Only the agency holding a record can confirm its current status. A booking entry is an allegation, not a conviction, and this site cannot verify a person's custody or release.

Search Partners

Some search boxes are run by outside providers, which set their own prices and decide what their tools return. If a visitor follows one of those tools to a paid signup, this site may receive a referral fee. That fee helps support the reference site, but it does not give us control over a partner's price, search results, or data practices.
